Happy New year to you all, or I guess it is all yal all. I agree traffic has slowed here, but now that we have most of the mechanical concerns sorted out, we ride. Some thoughts on chaps, I had some sewed up out of Cordura lined ballistic nylon, then the tailor lined them with cotton to keep the heat from the hot nylon one more layer way from the skin. They are waterproof, windproof and will allow sweat out. Had them done in medimum brown so they go with the yellow Savage. Been too cold to ride here in eastern WA even with them but today is looking promising. I've set 40 degress as my own comfort threshold for any kind of long street ride. Off road is different as is is alot more work and one stays warmer. For the winter improvemnts I have started on modifying and making brackets to install a large set of AMCO hard bags and will install a Honda Trail 90 package rack in place of the pillion pad. Going to cut off and use the sissy bar as part of the brackerty for the package rack.Turn lights are in the bags so those holes are going to be used for the saddle bag support brackets. When the weather is better I use mine for daily errands to town, the big city paper is delievered 6 miles away, and there always seems to be a need for something from town if one lives in the country on an old place. And I get a ride in that usually doens't have ending times.Other items re a new rear tire, found some chunking of this one and changing it will be more complicated wit the hard bags and brackets. Also new front brake pads, stainless steel hose and fluid flush. May even get around to replacing the intermitent leaking head bolt plug. With the full coverage front fender and low long HD exhaust it will be a different looking Suzuki Savage. When I get finished I'll try to get a pitcure for the owners page on Bert's home page. .
